RDP Friday: SOLSTICE
Why did it have to be raining? Why was today the day that every bone in my body hurts and some things which are arguably not bones, hurt too? The birds are outside rain and all.
They don’t expect a warm, dry house … and there’s a feeder to raid. I suppose, when you are a bird, a decent meal is about as good as it gets.
I know this means the season is turning again and days will get longer and ultimately, it will warm up. But not for a while. We have three long winter months to navigate and we’ve barely begun yet.
The bears have not gone into hibernation. Not cold enough yet? Too many trash cans to raid?
The sky is a leaden pale gray as the heavy rain falls. The dogs want nothing to do with outside. Snow is fun and everything else is okay too, but rain? No, thank you. Pass the biscuits. The sofa is home for now.
I have a doctor appointment. My right arm has taken to hurting a lot and won’t let me sleep. Nothing makes it any better. I think it may actually be a sign that my chest is beginning to heal, but why does it have to hurt so much?
It could be snowing. That would probably be worse, or at least, more complicated. We still have no one to plow the driveway and it’s a long, long road to the “real” road.
Winter has finally come, I suppose. I should be happier about it. I’m trying hard to find that happy place.

Hope you get some relief from your pain. The rain is incessant but since I’m driving to be with family tomorrow it’s better it’s not ice and snow. Dismal for sure.

I am happy enough it isn’t snowing, too. The rain is miserable, but it doesn’t pile up on the roof or turn into huge ice dams.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder. 😦 And the weather… If it was humanly possible i’d send over some of our Sunshine, we have WAY more than we need!!!
This morning the first thing i did was walk around the garden trying to cover up my most precious plants from the blisteringly hot sun they were starting to receive – i used up all my shadecloth and resorted to breaking up cardboard boxes for protection!
I’ll have a word or seventy with the Big G and see if he can’t do some sort of a sun swap deal with your rain?
Which reminds me – over on the other side of Oz one town in Queensland had 680mm of rain in 24 hours this week – that’s over 26 inches in a single day. That’s almost my annual average.

THAT is a LOT of rain. Almost Noah-esque.

I believe they are up to day 6! I wonder if they know something the rest of us don’t??

Miserable weather makes everything seem worse I think. I hope the heating pad helps as I imagine it will be hard to get into the doctor so close to Christmas.

The doctor gave me a shot in that shoulder. He says its (sigh) just more arthritis and it’s pinching a nerve.

Arthritis is a pain in the neck (and almost everywhere else).

Well, I’ve got it all through my spine, which actually means that EVERYTHING hurts. Literally everything. Between the broken sternum and the calcified spine, I am not going to be doing the marathon in April.

I have to agree. I never wanted — not at any time in my life — wanted to run a marathon. Not even once.

WE share a LOT of things in common – here is yet another one! 🙂
(My arthritis is thankfully under good control atm)

Mine was in pretty good control for a long time. As I got to the end of my 60s, it started to get out of control. AND they got rid of all the NSAIDS that had helped me. It turned out they were probably why I needed two valves replaced.

I don’t want to hear about the 60’s – it’s my next Birthday! 😦
If you have the rheumatoid type Arthritis ask your doc about Plaquenil (hydroxychloro-quine). Works well with little to no side-effects.

I don’t think so. Try and stay comfortable.

It’s awful for the bones – dreary, wet weather. I’m so sorry you arm is being so painful.

I THINK it may be a sign that the chest is healing. I hope I’m right because it’s really painful and it also could be the torn ligament in the shoulder that no one wants to fix because I left it unfixed for 40 years and it’s a bit late now. Let’s go with advanced healing. I like that better.
This is THE worse weather. It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s very icky and the air is mean-spirited and sinks deep into bones and muscle. I don’t think I felt like this 40 years ago, but maybe I’m forgetting.

Do you thing an infrared heat lamp would help. I don’t think they’re too expensive.

I have a heating pad. I should try it and see if it helps. So far, nothing has helped.

This didn’t bother us 4o or 50 years ago. I remember my Gramps always wincing in pain as he liberally applied Ben Gay to his body. I was clueless.
