Selfies, groupies, and foodies?
There are probably a few derogatory comments on social media about people who take food pictures. OK, there are probably more than a few.
I may have even made one or two myself. After all, these people are not writing reviews of the local restaurant for the New Yorker or Chicago magazines. They are snapping pictures of their overpriced food from some overcrowded food court. We, on the other hand, are snapping pictures of our excellent meals and truly excellent selves. If my brother were computer literate and online, he would probably be excited.
When I headed off on our recent adventure with a roommate who previously thought you could not have a meal without rice, we learned there are many things you can serve with your main course. Below are just a few of from our gastronomic adventures. You may even have seen some of this in our recent review of Frankfurt or will see soon in our Alsace travel report.
Be sure to click on any of the pictures to go through the full size of each.

Yes, we too take food pictures and post them online. Be sure to head over to SERENDIPITY for a few tasty morsels. Click “View original post” at the bottom.

I envy your eating experiences. We have truly terrible restaurants locally and only a little better some distance away. When it’s time to “go out” to eat, THAT is when I miss Boston!

Marilyn, we were spoiled by our previous years – eating in the fine restaurants of Boston, NYC, New Orleans, San Francisco, Martha’s Vineyard, France (Me), Israel (You). Now we have Uxbridge and Mickey Dees as our haute cuisine. We’ve fallen from grace.

Well, to be fair, poverty doesn’t help the situation either.

If I suggest a night out, John says we can not afford it. I worked the past two months to help pay for our trip and for Christmas. The temporary job ends tomorrow, so we are back to a budget in January.

True. Very True. We’ve exhausted the $1 menu.

We avoid McDees everywhere. John is an athlete, so we must eat healthy. I had to buy a new blender for various juices and shakes.

Rich, you must come up with some interesting “shakes”.

I am not always sure what John puts in them.

We eat at home most of the time. John is a good cook and usually does not want to spend the money to go out. On a trip, however, his tastes are a little more expensive.

It’s a cucumber type sauce. Actually, it’s not bad.

I make a green sauce using chopped basil and it’s really good.
