Spikes and pokes, sharp and pointy, we’re nearing the end. I started with birds and squirrels and it looks like I will end with them, too.

    • Since the hawk, the birds are very wary and not as eager to come out in bunches. From the reading, I’ve done on Cooper’s Hawks and their cousins, the Sharp-shinned Hawks (small and VERY agile), they have good reason to be afraid. Both of these hawks are exceptional flyers, even in very heavy ground cover. And they hunt birds. They used to be rare in suburban neighborhoods — until they discovered bird feeders which as far as they were concerned were a full days meal. So now, if the Hawks get too aggressive, you are supposed to take down the feeders for a few days until the hawks leave. There must have been a fly-by earlier; when I was up first thing, there were a lot of birds and now you can’t see a bird anywhere. They are hiding.
