WANDERING, BUT NOT LOST, IN
THE sOUTHWEST dESERT
For a woman raised in New York and living in Massachusetts, the desert is another world. The colors of the sky. The mountains jutting into the sky and giant cacti growing across the landscape. We have spent two vacations in Arizona and each has been glorious.

What a beautiful place to escape for a break. The landscape and the sunsets look exceptional. Who wouldn’t benefit from spending time somewhere like that. Wonderful. 🙂

Sometimes, the sky was so red it reflected on the mountains and turned THEM red too. I got some pictures, but they look fake. They ARE real but no one has scarlet mountains. Except Phoenix!

I know what you mean. I have a few “fake” shots too

Every now and again, the light and reflection produce pictures that just can’t be real … but they are. I don’ thing anyone would believe them 😀

I know..they just look as if a filter has Ben use then the colour over saturated. But we were there. ..

The sky was that deep red and I turned around and the mountains were red too. I didn’t get very high-quality visuals (we were in the car), but I got a couple of shots. Red mountains surrounding Phoenix, AZ. Really RED. I tried filtering the red to a softer hue, but then they came out pink.

I would love to see it for myself.

Those scenes look familiar. Beautiful. I’ve been going to the AZ desert once or twice a year since 1965..Except for the past 18 years, during which I’ve just gone a few times.

I assume it isn’t very different from home. It’s all Sonoran Desert, except you’ve got more water.

It’s really lush here due to the fact that it is subtropical.
