Where have all the butterflies, birds, and small animals gone? it turns out you don’t need a war. You can do it with a funky climate and fire.

  2. She is definitely singing. She is a contralto. And she is making extraordinary choices with the music, including the accompaniment. What is striking to me is that she says she loves the song, reminding me that the word “song” has different connotations for all of us. I’m usually so obsessed with the line, that the words take a back seat. Not true here.

    • She was a very early anti-Nazi. She left Germany as Hitler rose and never went back.

Dietrich was made an honorary citizen of Berlin on 16 May 2002. Translated from German, her memorial plaque reads

“Tell me where the flowers are”
      Marlene Dietrich
      27 December 1901 – 6 May 1992
      Actress and Singer

The song was VERY much her.
