Garry was surprised at how much power she put in the song. She didn’t have much of a voice, but she had tons of emotion that came through in her singing.

She is definitely singing. She is a contralto. And she is making extraordinary choices with the music, including the accompaniment. What is striking to me is that she says she loves the song, reminding me that the word “song” has different connotations for all of us. I’m usually so obsessed with the line, that the words take a back seat. Not true here.

I never heard her sing this song, actually any song. I only knew her as an actress. She makes her point succinctly though.

Take a look at her biography on Wikipedia. Not only could she act and sort of sing, she was a brave and incredibly intelligent woman and an early anti-Nazi person, long before the rest of Hollywood got on board.

I knew the anti-Nazi person thing, and the acting, but I had never heard her sing and she did a great job of the song. She was right into it!
