HIGH UP IN THE TREE, THE SQUIRREL IS WAITING – Marilyn Armstrong

HIGH UP IN THE TREE – SQUIRRELS FOREVER

Hugging the tree, this little squirrel is on top of his world, high in an oak tree. He’s overlooking my house, the whole woods. All the feeders. It’s winter and he wouldn’t mind a cozy warm house.

But he’s a squirrel. The trees are his world. And he has lots of fur to keep him warm, even with the snow on the tree.

Look down squirrel! Feel mighty, up there against the shining crystal twigs. I’ll keep putting out food and help keep you long.

    • That was the ONE day (early December) we got any snow. Otherwise, we’ve gotten a light dusting, but nothing stuck. I’m glad I took a few pictures that day. I had no idea it was going to be the only snow of the winter!

    • They don’t eat NEARLY as much as the raccoons and flying squirrels. Right now, it’s the raccoons doing the most serious damage. I just got last night’s pictures, so I’ll know more in a few minutes, but we are betting on the raccoons. They have those hands, y’know?

    • Lucky squirrel, there is ALWAYS food! I just spent HOURS trying to find seed that would get here before I run out. I bought a LOT and I hope it lasts. We seem to be feeding a whole forest full of creatures!

  1. Those squirrels would love nothing better than a warm attic to spend the winter. If you check out my song Nana Blues in Youtube you’ll see one happy squirrel who just hit pay dirt in our neighbour’s garage roof.
