A MID-MAY 2020 SHARING – Marilyn Armstrong

Share Your World 5-11-2020

Last night, we got so cold we had to change from lighter covering back to deep winter quilts. I think I’m beginning to feel a bit stressed. Today, having finally conquered Zoom, we went to a meeting online. And it was great to see other faces and even TALK to them!

I asked this on an award thingie I was nominated for, and I got such interesting responses, I thought I’d ask it on Share Your World too:  Do you have a favorite kind of tree?

Maple. It’s beautiful in summer, glorious in the Autumn and it makes maple syrup. It’s a great tree!

What bridges are you happy you burned?

I’ve ended things, but I don’t think I went out with a fire or explosion. Some things weren’t meant to last forever. It doesn’t mean they were never good, but we change, our partners change. Life just happens.

Would you sacrifice yourself (die) for a stranger?

You mean die so Trump can get re-elected? Surely you jest.

How have your priorities changed since the C-19 virus took over?

I’m insanely glad we never moved to a “senior home.” I always thought they looked unpleasant. Those pictures on the TV are nothing like any place I’ve ever visited.

    The perils of old age homes have certainly been highlighted during this pandemic, Marilyn. I love your maple tree pictures, so pretty.

      They are the brightest trees in autumn, the ones that turn red, orange, and bright yellow. We don’t have a lot of them here at home because the oaks make the woods too shady for maples, but in open areas, like the front of the house, we have a couple. I wish I knew how to make syrup!

    Thanks Marilyn for Sharing Your World! The maple tree has brought many good things with it and that Autumn foliage? Magnificent!! I don’t think they have ‘sugar’ maples here, it’s probably far too arid. Or it was. Maybe some will take root now the climate has turned on its ear.. O_o I doubt ANYONE (with any sanity left) would die for ol’ poo pile boy. If he is re-elected, I hope someone finally kills the entitled bore. Or kills me. It’s unthinkable. Gracious. There may not be enough chocolate or endorphins in the whole world to cure that kind of depression. Good point.

      I know what you mean. I don’t think I could live through another four years of watching him destroy this country.

      Maple trees might not easily grow in your soil. But if you log on to any place that sells seeds and trees, they will tell you. And there are many types of maple, though they pretty much (other than Japanese maples) look the same.

      I think — but I am not sure — that the maples in the valley are sugar maples, it’s pretty hard to tell and I’m not good at identifying trees and wild plants. I keep trying, but mostly, I’m wrong.

    Excellent captures as usual ! Fin to be back to enjoy the wonderful gallery of yours. Even I am teaching my students on zoom. Online teaching is even more taxing than I thought it would be. I keep on talking to my parents in Delhi on zoom and all my sisters also join in.
