How comfortable are you speaking in front of large groups of people?

As it happens, I was a broadcast/public speaking major (after being a music major and before becoming a philosophy major) and I’m a pretty good public speaker if I’m talking to live people, not a camera. I need to see people’s faces. I don’t do well if it’s all cameras.
What would be the best thing you could reasonably expect to find in a cave?
A flush toilet.
What did you think was going to be amazing but turned out to be horrible?
So I sent my best friend some new shampoo and conditioner because the iron in her water is doing some serious damage. It’s a small package and you would think that Amazon could at least get THIS ONE right, but nope. To be precise, the post office did the final screw up, but it was such a simple thing.. Just sending a small gift to a friend. 
Instead, it wound up an INCIDENT. Another INCIDENT. The whole point of ordering online is to simplify life, not make it more complicated!
What’s the silliest thing you’ve observed someone get upset about?
Nothing. I’ve seen people get really upset about nothing at all and when you finally calm them down and ask them what the problem was, they do not know.
Please feel free to share something that gave you an uplifted spirit during this past week.
I think I got a refinance on a really bad loan I signed. I’ll know for sure in a couple of days, but if it works out — and it should — it will give us enough money to fix some of the stuff that needs repair.

A flush toilet in a cave? I know that would certainly be a most WELCOME thing to find in there..those outhouses really leave something to be desired if one is hiking.

It’s a talent/gift to be able to public speak (in my opinion). I always wonder if I’ll finish or pass out first, so I avoid it, I really admire people (like you and Garry) who CAN!

Melanie, tis a familiar tale.
Years as a mic holder on TV has left me comfortable addressing large groups. I’m uncomfortable with small groups. Especially here at home with Marilyn and/or Owen. I wait for an opening in conversation. An opening that’s often hard to find so I remain mute and often irritated. Que sera, sera.

Yes, I would rather speak to a group of live people. Besides different courses in English, I taught classes in Public Speaking, and it was such a joy to see people who were terrified to speak to a group be able to address the class on a subject that interested them. My grandfather, an actor, turned to teaching Public Speaking in high school in his later years. One year, his Debate team won every contest nationwide and he was awarded a statue as the Speech Teacher of the Year by the top New York newspaper. I never reached that distinguished a spot.

Patricia, given the celebs you encountered in your youth, I appreciate your chit chat ability in large groups of people. Ditto here.
I’m awkward with two or three people who are “alpha” conversationalists. I don’t like fighting for my moment to offer a thought or exchange. Maybe it’s just me.
Public speaking comes easy to me. I usually do a quick assessment of the audience before jabbering. My “problem” is I segue and segue until I realize I need to take a breath . I usually acknowledge my fault and the audience (usually) laughs.
If it’s a “professional” speaking engagement, I’m very careful about my length. I still warn my audience about my propensity to segue. They usually appreciate it.
I’d hate to be involved in a political debate.
I was a surrogate candidate in a gubernatorial race a few years back. I was successful and, I think, won the debates. Wasn’t enamored of the candidate who was elected.

I know what you mean.I’m no competition with Alpha conversationalists either. Usually, under those circumstances,I just react physically with nods and smiles and shut up!
