#CFFC: Catching People Unaware
Ye old snapshot, a picture taken without posing or lights can be a lot of fun. Some of my favorite shots were quick shots of people doing their “thing.”

In some cases , I wonder if its’s ethical to take pictures this way. People should have a right of refusal.

These are all members of my family or close friends. They all knew I would publish the pictures. I never take face pictures of strangers without permission, but then again, if I take people pictures, it’s generally in crowds and from a distance, so you can’t see who is who. I also blank out car licenses, just in case.

Good ideas. I often think of doing these precautions myself.

I try to be careful. Unless I’ve gotten permission to use an unfamiliar face, I’ll try to take pictures from the side or back. I blank out car licenses too. It’s not only because I’m concerned about getting sued, but because unless it’s a news event, I don’t have the right to open up other people’s lives.

Thank you. She IS lovely. She’s a photographer herself, so we take each other’s pictures. She is mischievous, actually. She can be really very funny.

I don’t know if she realizes how lovely she is. She certainly doesn’t dress the part 🙂

Nothing like candids! Sometimes I prefer them over a pose, you capture the essence of the person or the moment

That’s why so many of my pictures of Garry are from the side or back. He freezes in front of the camera. He doesn’t do this with video. Just still cameras, which I think is sort of weird. But getting him to loosen up is really difficult, so he has a lot of off angle photographs 🙂

I didn’t think I had anything, then I thought about it and realized I probably do, but they were in all different categories. I figured a lot of people were not going to participate. Even if it’s just your immediate family, it’s still a busy time. We baked apple pies last night, fruitcake and Owen is baking white bread to go with dinner. It’s WAY too much food, but really GOOD food. Merry merry whatever you are doing. Get better and let us hope for pleasantly boring year to come!
