Watching Impeachment Redux on CNN, eating Owen’s freshly-baked French bread (oh wow oh wow it’s so GOOD!) while realizing I’m not getting dressed today. I’ve got Lidocaine patches on my back and anything with a waistband will knock them off. Meanwhile, I’m watching and listening to the well-presented Democratic side of Prior Prez 45’s attempt to take over as permanent American autocrat. I knew what I’d seen — and I saw a lot, almost from the first arrival at the Senate — but there are cameras all over the White House, so now I am seeing stuff I’ve never seen before.
They are also reading all his tweets — months of them. I never read them because I never followed Prior Prez 45’s tweet storms. If it showed up on TV, I heard about it. Otherwise, I didn’t hear about it and I have to admit, even for me who went from disliking T**** to really loathing him, this is horrendous stuff. You have to wonder how anyone holding a position as senator could allow Prior Prez 45 to go forward without accountability. How can anyone who holds any aspect of our government as meaningful let him get away with this? Talk about setting the table for future autocrats. I get chills thinking about the potential future of this country if we fail to deal with this.

The only good thing Prior Prez 45’s lawyers did yesterday was point out that 45 can easily be sent to a real trial in a real court with a judge — the kind of place from which if found guilty, you actually wind up in the slammer. The first lawyer sounded like he was not on Trump’s side, that he just thought they should hold big chunky ex-president 45 as a felon. In a real court of law. I think whatever happens after this impeachment that he definitely should be counted as a felon and treated as such. I’d love to see him spend the rest of his life in a real American prison, maybe one of the horror show joints we rent from private companies.
I don’t have of my own pictures to use, so I’ll see what news photos I have stored.
Even understanding we have not lived up to our beliefs in this country, this is so far over the top I have trouble believing it could have happened in my world.

Even with all the massive and horrific evidence those corrupted Repubs will still let him off.
Fortunately there’s a much higher court where no corruption is permitted and ALL will be accounted for.

I would like to think for, that he WILL pay if not in this life, then in the next. But meanwhile, my mind is totally boggled.

This whole thing has turned the Republican party into a radical group almost as Trumpian as Trump himself. It may, truly, be the end of the party as we’ve known it. But they do have a chance here, however slim, to partially redeem themselves. That is, only If a sizable group of the GOP realize that they can not withstand the humiliation of supporting “Agent Orange’s” madness and remain relevant in our society, but instead place their collective heads between their legs, accept the possible thrashing, and vote this abomination out of ever holding public office.., EVER!. Let him go back to the cheating, lying, unscrupulous ways of his business practices of hurting the few instead of the whole freakin’ country. “The Man Who Would Be King” never had more meaning than the antics of this, worst case, human being making me ashamed to be of the same species.

We all hope that, but it seems unlikely. What I DO hope is that the regular courts all him to trial. It’s his followers and what they are allowed to do that ALSO needs to be addressed. The “proud boys” are illegal in Canada. Some of these groups need to be named as internal terrorists. How these people live with themselves is hard to understand.

I don’t know how this trial will end, well I sort of do but hoping I’m wrong. However, I hope that after it ends he does end up in a criminal court, is found guilty and lands in jail. Wouldn’t that be something? We can dream.

Jail. Yes. Especially because he’s such a fan of expensive yet really horrible design. No gold toilet bowls for the Old Guy. And — NO CELL PHONE.

Are there any Trump jails?

Not yet but we can build one really really fast!

He doesn’t own any? Still if he did he probably would get a gold plated toilet.

I just want to see him led away in handcuffs. It’s a small dream that I hope I live to see. I probably won’t, but a gal can dream.

I agree with you. How did we get here, to crazyland with people condoning behavior that is totally loathsome. I hope you start to feel better soon.

At least, if nothing else I realize for the first time what a bad place the police were in and how brave they were in trying to protect the capitol. It really WAS all T—-‘s fault. All of it.

I’m assuming that most of you are, like we are, glued to the television. Even though I saw this when it happened, it is still insane, far too insane for it to make sense.

No. I don’t have regular TV. I have some streaming and of course can access youtube whenever I desire. My cousins (we are all originally from Maryland although most have moved away) posted yesterday about how proud they were of Jamie Raskin so that sent me to C span. Today during my pedicure I caught some on CNN. Beyond that I mostly read the Washington Post and NYT,

Reading works too, but this time, the footage they are showing, a lot of which is from internal security cameras at the capitol, was mesmerizing. If you can find some of the footage online, you might want to see it.

I have a friend who se son is a member of the Capitol Police force. He had messaged me soon after January 6th and (discreetly) shared with me his son’s injuries and how distraught they all were. When I saw the footage from Jamie Raskin’s statement my heart went out to him even more so than it did that day. I could barely stand to watch it. I thought of my friend, and as mother, hoped that if he saw it I hoped his wife had not. I didn’t ask him.
