FOTD – February 18 – Mums
I love mums. They are the flower that you plant in August and will bloom right through Thanksgiving — if you are a bit lucky with the weather. These are all mums I got in bouquets from Garry. I seem to have given up on my garden. The weeds have taken over full-time. I know they aren’t considered particularly special in how they are scented, but I love the way they smell.

Thank you. My biggest problem is remembering to take the pictures before everything wilts 🙂

I think they come in every possible color in the world 😀 It makes them a lot of fun to grow — or, in this case, buy.

Some of them are dyed as they grow. They insert vegetable dye into the the pots so they turn out blue or bright pink or some other not-standard color. It’s why, if they regrow the next year, they will be white and the color will be gone. They do this with all flowers, these days, but especially to orchids, zinnias, and chrysanthemums. I don’t know how I feel about it. At least they aren’t doing any genetic changes.
