I think they are purple, but if they are house finches, they are the most awesomely scarlet House Finch I’ve ever seen. They are brilliantly red. I think that means they are purple. Meanwhile, here are a few pictures. The top two pictures show the colors best. It was also a full sun day, which made it hard to get the colors exactly right and the windows were doing a lot of reflecting. Owen cleaned the windows — which ought to help. They were getting dirty enough that it was like shooting through smudgy sunglasses.
