National Weed Appreciation Day on March 28th each year reminds us that some weeds are beneficial to us and our ecosystem. Humans have used weeds for food and as herbs for much of recorded history. Some are edible and nutritious, while other weeds have medicinal value.
Observing #WeedAppreciation Day – Take the day to learn some of the benefits of the plants, weeds, flora, and fauna around us. Learn the uses and share your knowledge using #WeedAppreciationDay on social media.
Did I ever, for a minute, imagine that we’d ever have a National Week Appreciation Day which didn’t involve police dragging you off to jail? And locking you up? That’s why I was so surprised to hear that smoking dope could kill you. I’ve been smoking since I was 16 (and that was 58 years ago). Now, I don’t smoke, but I do ingest. Amazingly, I’m still alive and I’m not addicted to something more serious, like pain pills, cocaine, or heroine. It wasn’t a gateway to anything except overeating donuts, sleeping soundly, and a certain amount of pain relief from spinal arthritis.
I also have a variety of pretty good recipes for edibles, in case anyone is interested. Our favorites are marijuana infused ginger snaps, but we’ve also done gingerbread, banana bread, and of course, brownies.
The dope you buy today is a lot stronger than the stuff we got in college. I remember we used to dream about “one toke dope” until it showed up. Now, I would prefer something a little gentler. Also, cheaper. The legal stuff is so expensive that the illegal stuff is a much better buy. It’s generally better, too. Talk about stealing defeat from the jaws of victory, the states have jacked up the taxes on legal marijuana to such a degree that dope dealers lowered their prices and back came all their former clients. There goes all the money the state thought they were going to make from selling it legally.
