Share Your World 4-19-2021

We keep getting nice days — like today — and we get optimistic. The next day, we get snow or at least flurries. It can’t go on forever, can it? It will be spring. Eventually, right?

What was the last TV show you binge-watched?   If you don’t watch TV (congratulations by the way) what’s the last thing you binged ON?

Hemingway — the mini-series on PBS. Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. It was brilliant. Also disturbing. It reminded me that being a great writer doesn’t make you a great person. People are complicated. Writers are more complicated and often what they write is very different than how they live.

Right now, we’re watching “Shakespeare and Hathaway” which is a British humorous mystery — weightless and rather silly.

What’s your most prized possession and why?

All things considered, our house. I could as easily say my cameras or computers, but really, it’s the house. The house is our stage and we upon it merely actors, fretting and strutting our way about the stage. Thanks, Wm. Shakespeare.

If you had the time and inclination, what would you volunteer for?

Shooting litterers. I hate people who dump garbage on the road. Too lazy to have a trash bag in the car, they literally toss it into the woods or the river. Into our woods and OUR river. If I can’t shoot them, can I get their address so I can bring my trash and dump it in their kitchen or living room?

Do you think that humans will ever be able to live together in harmony?

No. People have never lived together in harmony. Ever. Humans aren’t nice to each other. Individuals can be nice to other individuals, but as a race? We kind of suck. Just being decent to each other seems above our pay grade. Shame on us.

I’m really glad the price of external hard drives has gone down because I need two of them. I’m also grateful to the IRS who did our taxes this year (for free) and got us the best refund we’ve gotten in a decade — which is how I can afford two hard drives!

  1. I’ll join you on litter patrol 🙂

  2. I like your writing Marilyn, really fun if you know their address…you would bring your trash…ha ha ha.

  3. Thank you for Sharing Your World, Marilyn! What an unusual series…it looks very good! I’ve only read a handful of Hemingway’s works. Seeing them in an episode might prove very satisfying! A house can indeed be a most prized possession, particularly if one feels very at home in their house! What a lovely choice! I’d be happy to join your litterer’s posse….paintball guns at the ready! Have a great week!
