SPRING IN SOUTH CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS

FOTD – May 8 – Spring in Uxbridge

Today was Owen’s birthday and I’m sure it will surprise no one that I got him a camera. I got him a camera I always wanted but couldn’t find any reason to own one. It’s Olympus’s “tough camera.” You can drop it, snorkle up to 14 meters down. It won’t freeze or cook in a warm (but not hot) car. it can handle bumping and sand, rain and snow. It is, in short, exactly what Owen needed. He was afraid to take the camera anywhere for fear of damaging it. Today he took some “test shots” and a few of them are a nice example of what our little town looks like when spring has sprung.

  1. Maybe it’s because of Covid, but Spring seems a long time in coming this year..

    • It is very slow. We get reasonably warm days, but it drops below freezing at night. We still get frost warnings and can’t put out anything fragile. My fuchsia is waiting! We are also trying to plant a new garden, but it’s too cold. I thought it was just New England. I guess not!

  3. Many happy returns of the day to Owen. He is certainly learning quickly and since his new gift can handle the ruggedness, so there’s no need to worry about 🙂

  4. Owen has a good eye. He’ll enjoy his photography a lot more now he has a camera that he won’t be worrying so much about. Hope he had a good day.

    • Well, it was a good dinner and lots of gifts, but he still had to work. I think they should automatically give you the day off on your birthday! I always liked this camera, but I don’t need it. I think it’s perfect for him. It has three separate setting for shooting underwater. Imagine that!

      • For many years when I was growing up my birthday was often on a holiday. Adelaide Cup Day. Oddly after we moved here they changed the date of the holiday to March. I agree though, everyone should get a holiday for their birthday. I’ll be volunteering on mine in a couple of weeks but that’s OK.
