CBWC: SEATING – Cee’s Black & White Challenge
We actually went out to take some pictures today. It was a gray, humid day with wait expected. We went down to the river in Rhode Island. We haven’t been there in more than a year. A very disappointing day. I sometimes forget: there’s a reason we do most of our shooting during the other three seasons. Summer is green. Entirely green. Here and there, a hydrangea breaks the green, but this year was even greener than usual. Down by the river, there weren’t even any water lilies or flowers along the banks. Just green and more green.

Our garden looks bad. Usually our spring cleanup lasts at least through June, but this year it’s as if every weed went into a kind of bizarre hyper-drive. The weeds are enormous and are hiding several hundred day lilies. I’ve never seen it look this bad so early in the year. It must be something about the weather.

We managed to take a few good pictures, but it felt pretty flat. It was also looking at the pictures that I realized how very much we have aged in the past year. You can really see it in the pictures. Garry is even thinner than usual and I lost 14 pounds too, though I can’t figure out why since I wasn’t on a diet.
2020 was a weird year. We are already halfway through 2021 and it doesn’t even feel like the year has started. I still feel like we are on pause.

I wonder if sitting in a chair under a ladder is bad luck or good luck. 😀 😀 Great entry this week. 😀

Love the Adirondack Chairs shot with the view in the background!

I bought a pair of those chairs when we first moved in here. Shortly thereafter, I discovered getting into them was a piece of cake, but getting OUT of one apparently required a winch and pulley. They are really comfortable, too and the arms are wide enough to put your lemonade and even a sandwich. I still have the chairs, 20 years later. No one our age can sit in them, but we all admire them ;-D

LOVELY VIEW FROM THOSE TWO CHAIRS. LOSING WEIGHT SEEMS TO BE THE THEME OF THE YEAR. I’VE LOST TEN POUNDS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A GOOD APPETITE AND EAT WELL. PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE MY INTAKE IS MOSTLY FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, ALTHOUGH I DO HAVE MASHED POTATOES ON OCCASION. I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE SUGAR, SO THAT MAY ACCOUNT FOR SOME OF THE LOSS.

Especially early in the morning when the mist was lifting off the mountains, it was incredibly beautiful. They actually have to pay additional taxes for the “view.” And yes, it’s called a “view tax.”

These were all Garry’s pictures. He has taken to photography like he was doing it for years! I think it might have to do with his love of film — and working on camera for 40 years 😀
