Dark green boughs heavy with leaves means deep summer in the valley. We are a wonderland of trees.

We had two sunny days, but today, it rained. Tomorrow they are promising more sun. Here’s hoping they got it right.

And now, for a song from long ago. Sherm Feller (the song’s writer) was a public address announcer for the Red Sox at Fenway Park and a friend of Garry’s. It’s the only song he wrote, but it’s a good one.

  1. a wonderland indeed – stunning collection and the woodpecker shot is amazing

  2. Great bird shot. Woodpecker?

    • Red-Bellied Woodpecker. They look so much like the Flickers it can be hard to tell them apart. I’m pretty sure that’s a Red-bellied Woodpecker (they don’t really HAVE a red belly, but I guess you can’t call all of them redheads) because his feathers were white, but some of them are rather light green and they are probably yellow-shafted Flickers. But since all of them shift colors by season, it can get very hard to tell one from another.
