FOTD – October 3 – Seasonal Gourds
I used to go out to farms and buy lots of gourds, but there are hardly any farm stands this year. Maybe next year. Meanwhile, these are the gourds of yesteryear.

I love all the strange shapes and colors! Other than flowers, these are grown entirely because they are so interesting and colorful. This was a better than usual bunch 😉

Wow, such sharp delineations of the contours. Well crafted!

Thank you very much. I don’t even know what camera I was using back then. It was, I’m sure, some kind of Olympus, but I don’t remember. It was before my macro lens, though, so I must have been using a normal lens with a macro setting.

The pictures are lovely. You don’t see these gourds here in South Africa.

They probably would grow because if a pumpkin will grow, a gourd is really the same thing, just smaller and weirder. Maybe no one has tried growing them? I buy them, but they are pretty easy to grow, or so I’m told 😀

My dad has grow pumpkins, but ours are different to yours. They are much flatter and the skins are pale and thin. You cannot carve them.

They are very colorful and kind of weird. I just like the way they look. They are small — basket sized.
