New England’s Autumn – At Peak
It’s getting the end of the foliage getting better and now into the slow slide until all the leaves are on the ground. I think we are as peak as we are getting this year. Some places are really brilliant, but there is still a quite a bit of green, too.

I’m trying to get all the squares I made this month into posts, but it’s impossible. There are so many of them. I’m pretty sure it will be 2022 and I’ll still be digging through this pile. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the colors.

We are going on the road next week for the first time in how long? Two and a half years? Even Garry thought maybe we need a bit of time away from the house. The Duke will be very upset, but I can’t take him. He’s not good with other dogs.

THIS TITLE TAKES ME BACK TO A MEMORY OF SITTING AT THE DINNER TABLE WITH EDDIE ALBERT AND HIS FAMILY AND EDDIE SUDDENLY STARTING TO SING “COUNTRY ROADS” WHILE WE ALL JOINED IN.

Around here, it’s an anthem. I love our country roads, though I wish they would finish the repairs. We have been fixing them for years and by the time they finish, it will be time to start over. But indeed, we live in country road central 🙂

Thank you! There was an ad on TV using “Country Roads” as background. I started humming it. Couldn’t get it out of my head.

This is our time of year. Mind you, it’s pretty all the time, but it’s spectacular in the fall.

Thank you! There are times when living this far away from “the world” is very inconvenient, but beautiful is the one thing we’ve got. And photogenic too 😀 This time of year, absolutely spectacular.

Lovely pictures, Marilyn. I like the gate picture very much. I always enjoy doors and gates. I wonder what lies behind them. I like the picture of Garry too. Is he looking at a chicken? I can’t quite make out what he’s looking at.

Chickens. Garry spent a lot of time with the chickens. They clucked back when he talked to them. All of them act like pets.
In fact, ALL their animals on this farm are friendly. I’m surprised the farm is still working. When the original owners sold the place, I was afraid this amazing — really spectacular — piece of property with its high banks along the Blackstone making it nearly flood-proof — is the kind of property expensive developers love. I suspect the only reason it hasn’t been built up is we are too far from Boston to drive daily — and we don’t have a commuter rail. A train would put us on the map but then, we’d also get development. I’m glad we’re simply living in the country.

I thought it was a chicken. That is lovely to hear, Marilyn. We all need escapes from city life.
