SKETCHBOOK 42 – WINTER SUNSET

I did a lot of drawing last night, so this sketchbook will come up a few more times. Meanwhile, I really liked how this one came out. It’s very moody. I should have used a bigger piece of paper!

This is the view you get at sunset in the winter on our road which faces almost due west. As the sun drops to the horizon, the sun is directly in your face. But if you pull off to the side of the road, it makes an amazing photograph, especially in the winter when there are no leaves on the trees.

  1. Absolutely glowing. More life than the photograph. Well done!

    • It’s a 5X8″ page and I didn’t leave a border. I had to add more canvas on the computer. I should have gone up to a 9X12.

That is a beautiful scene. It’s also blinding to a driver, so you might as well pull off the road and take pictures because until the sun drops lower, you can’t see anything.
