SKETCHBOOK 62, PART B – FUCHSIA

I do not have a problem with my drawing, but I have a problem with the colors. I am beginning to think I need to invest in a set of pastels. You can find lots of firm, strong colors in my multitude of colors. What you can’t easily find are soft colors. Light green and light blue are easy, but light red, soft pink, soft red-violet are mostly missing.

Fuchsia

Almost all soft colors are hard to find in pencils. But I know there are pastel sets out there. The problem has been finding a set that’s worth spending money on and is good. I want oil-based pencils, not wax. I hate the powdery residue wax-based pencils leave. No matter how hard I try, I haven’t found a way to get rid of that residue. The oil pencils leave less residue, but sets with many colors are difficult to find. But I’m gonna find what I need. I’m not sure how, but I will.

  1. It looks as if you usd a pink with a purple overlay — perhaps a little less overlay would be closer to the color you are looking for?

    • You are absolutely right. I need to use LESS color. I keep trying to fix it and the result is that it keeps getting darker. I got some interesting colors today. I think they may be closer to what I’m looking for. I hope so.

Yes. Less overlay. LESS color. Less pressure. LESS of everything. Less is probably more.
