I didn’t want a standard Bluebird. Between photographs and previous drawings, I have enough “classic” bluebirds. I wanted some Bluebirds with something special. Attitude. It took me six drawings. One, boring. One I screwed up the eyes. One, I screwed up the entire head. It just looked weird.

But two of them came out pretty well — and one of them is funny. Funny is very difficult. Or, as actor Edmund Gwenn said at the end of his life: “Dying is easy. Comedy is hard.”

Love the attitude of the first one.

The first one needs a thought balloon, like: “What ARE you thinking?”
