He is looking down because that’s where the food is. Squirrels are always planning. Mostly planning where to get their next meal. When we still could afford to keep flat feeders, the top of the post was a great vantage point. Now that it’s summer, they will have to fend for themselves.

I will rethink the feeding process in the fall and if prices on feed have come down to something I can manage, I’ll try to set up separate feeders perhaps featuring ears of corn for the squirrels. They weren’t interested in the cracked corn which I bought especially for them. Maybe they’ll like corn on the cob better.

He is. He did. The OTHER reason I put the flat feeders away was that the squirrels kept leaping in and out of them and they would spill the entire contents.

It seems the squirrels have become demanding too. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

Squirrels are ALWAYS demanding — and determined! If there’s food, they will eat. Except they didn’t like the cracked corn. I was surprised. I thought they’d love it.
