Usually, we get a big burst of daylilies all popping open on the same day. This year, we are getting a slow stream of lilies. One, then another three. Today another five.
What is strange are that so many wildflowers which normally bloom early in the season and are long gone by June, are still blooming.
We have wild asters, spiderwort, giant clover, and a great amount of Queen Anne’s lace. No ferns which normally abound by this time of year. Also the roses are slow to bloom despite being heavily in bud.
