SKETCHBOOK 81: RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS IN A TREE

I haven’t done anything in a couple of weeks, but it’s been a busy couple of weeks. Today, I settled down and drew the two “married” Red-Bellied Woodpeckers.

    • Thank you. I was very happy with it. How’s your ankle?

      • You’re welcome! It’s getting less painful with every day. I still need to hop around on my right leg and the walking stand.

        • I used to climb stairs (after I had something similar done on both feet (25 years ago) on my butt. I got pretty good at it. We were living in a three-story condo at the time, but I was a lot younger.

          • Oh wow, what a brave thing to do. I can’t imagine doing that.

              • Still must’ve been very tough. I’m feeling sorry for myself after on foot in plaster.

                • You’re a lot older than I was when I had the work done. Age really matters when recovering from surgery. Huge differences even in a few years. I was a lot more lively at 70 than I am at 75 and was a great deal more agile when I was 65 than at 70. Take it easy and let everything fully heal. Don’t be stupid about it. I was and it was a mistake. In the end, it really took longer because I pushed too hard too soon.

  2. Hi Marilyn, great pictures. I really like your bird sketches.

    • They are what I do best — that, and flowers. I can do other things, but they are bigger and more complicated and take too much time to complete. I like to do things I can finish in a few hours. This was more complicated than usual, but came out better than expected.
