FOTD – September 15 – Roses Remembering 32 Years
I asked for flowers and flowers I got. A really incredible bouquet of roses that smell like heaven and look heavenly too. I took pictures today. Roses don’t last long. I love them, but a day, maybe two before they start to fall apart.
Is this the most amazing color for roses or what? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them this color. It’s almost amber with a streak of pink and oh my, the scent!

Amazingly, they are still looking good! This are the most durable roses I’ve ever seen. If they didn’t smell so good, I’d think they were fake.

They still look great. I don’t know what they did to them, but by now roses are usually falling apart. These aren’t. They smell real, look real, but they are in great shape! I’d send you the scent if only I could.

It’s such an interesting color, isn’t it. Not exactly pink, but not exactly orange or amber. Some kind of delicious mix of colors.

Yes.. My mother had roses of that color from her mother’s garden. I used to know the name of that variety, but it has vanished along with the roses.

These are remarkably long-lasting, too. Three days and none of them are collapsing. That’s remarkable. I tried growing roses, but there’s not enough light in the right places — and too cold in the winter unless you burlap the plants and I’m too old and achy. But I do love them!

And keep those roses!! If you dump the water just before they start dropping petals, and let them dry in their vase a couple of days, those petals and their yummy fragrance can be preserved!!
When they start to drop, pluck petals off, spread on a paper towel for a day or two then put them in a breathable container (tiny bag, piece of cloth) or just in a bowl. Hand stir to mix for the first few days, so all get a chance to dry out. Instant Potpourri!
I do this with my rose bushes every year and the fragrance lasts for months!!!
