HORSE FARM AROUND THE CORNER
There are a lot of horse farms nearby. Many of them teach riding. Others just enjoy breeding and raising horses.

Many people breed giant horses, originally the mounts for knights wearing armor. Considering how heavy a knight in armor was, a normal horse couldn’t carry one. For this, the big horses like Belgians and Percherons were bred. When not being used as war horses, they could pull a plow or a cart. These horse don’t look huge until you get close and then you realize they’re the size of trucks.

Brilliant photo Garry 😀

I took pictures of the same horses, but Garry’s pictures have a sense of movement that mine lack. I’d post more but this was the only square one.

He managed to get the flow of motion that I couldn’t get. He’s better at that than I am. Maybe it’s all those years he worked with film and video.

I would be a regular visitor!

We are regular visitors, though the horses aren’t always outside. It has to be the right kind of day — cool enough, warm enough. Sometimes they aren’t in a place you can take pictures. When they are up on that hill, it’s easy, but if they go behind it, it’s hard get pictures.

Worth the wait, I should imagine…

I hope so. At least it’s a more up to date lens. Not that this one hasn’t been a real workhorse for me, but it’s got too much “attitude.”

Thank you. The horses were frisky and friendly. They apparently felt like being photographed that day.
