FOTD – January 16 – Rhododendrons
We had a great spring last year for rhododendrons. This year, without a proper winter and with the garden under full attack from invasive strangling vines, I’m not optimistic. Everything else was suffering through last summer, but even in full drought those invasive weeds kept growing. We had them all chopped down in the fall, but they need to be uprooted and we can’t. All we can do is hire someone to come and cut them down as often as we can afford. Those invaders are ugly.

Thanks. we had a real abundance of them last spring, but a lot of things died during the long dry summer. I’m hoping they revive as the winter ends. At least we’ve gotten plenty of rain and today, snow.

I’m hoping they revive. They were wonderful last year, but the summer was long, very hot, rain-free for months. Whether or not they survived? I guess we’ll see soon enough.
