FOTD – February 13 – The Unfurling and Uncurling of an Anthurium
From when I first saw the bud of this flower, I have been watching it unfurl, uncurl until it’s now almost a fully open. It’s getting close. Anthurium blossoms last a very long time. Some seem to have lasted for years which, given how long it takes to create a flower, does not surprise me.
I’ve never seen any flower take so long to go from bud to flower.

I always think they look like plastic, which should last forever!

Well, they are real, but they last as close to forever as any flower possibly could. They last for months and some may have made it to a year.

Thank you. It’s such a true red — almost like the “printer’s” version of red on the color chart. And it stays that color for the duration — which is months.
