Since I stopped filling the flat feeders, we don’t get as many squirrels. That doesn’t mean we don’t get squirrels. If you get up early in the morning — especially right after dawn — you will easily see a dozen red squirrels sucking down pounds of seeds. They eat at least twice as much food as all the birds combined.

It’s just we don’t have them here all day every day. I’ve downsized the feeders, so we only get little ones, not the really huge gray ones.

They are darling little things. I haven’t seen a squirrel since I was last in England over 30 years ago but at least we have the possums and they are very cute too.

These little red squirrels are just adorable. They are half the size of the big gray ones and more sociable. The gray ones tend to be loners, but the red ones come in groups. We have possums too, though ours aren’t very cute. Maybe because they are bald!

Your opossums look quite different to our possums, more rat like.

How cute are they!

They are so cute, they look like toys. But they are surprisingly tough little squirrels. You’d never guess it from looking at them.
