FOTD – March 27 – Cactus flowers in early spring
My Christmas cactus has given up any relationship to winter holidays and seems to have decided to flower all the time. A flower blooms, a new bud forms. The flower dies? Wait, here’s a new flower. This unhurried approach to flowering is very untypical for a cactus. Typically — usually — they make a lot of buds and voila, you have a blaze of flowers. Then they are gone until next year.
Not with this cactus. This cactus has been flowering since late January. One flower at a time.
Three days from big bud to full bloom — and yes, there’s another on the way.

Thanks Cee! I took a few more pictures today. I think it’s possible I’m NEVER going outside.

Instead of blooming seasonally, it seems to be just blooming whenever it feels like it. Not that I mind, but it’s definitely decided it has its own agenda.

Thank you. It’s that color. It’s fire-engine red, but without the hoses and ladders.
