It was a beautiful day. Almost every day this summer has been perfect. Except for a scarcity of rain, I don’t remember a better summer in New England. No stifling humidity or weeks of tropical rain. No blistering heat. Just sunshine, moderate temperatures, low humidity. It doesn’t get better than this.
With a little bit of luck, Autumn will be equally perfect. And maybe (please, oh weather gods) a mild winter to follow?
A trip to River Bend Farm to see the beginning of Autumn in the trees. It was nice to see the Blackstone River looking pretty much normal. Hopefully that bodes well for our water supply.

Duly noted. I was quite unaware of protocol and etiquette concerning blog comment areas. Now after being a troll, I know what that is, and WHY not to do that. I will not repeat that behavior and thank you for being directly honest with me.

That is Garry’s “thing.” I’m always hunting for light as it filters through leaves, but for him, it’s the reflections of light on water and the subtleties of the colors as they shift. He spent a lot of years doing this as film … transferring his skills to still photography has been interesting for him, I think. Basically similar but not exactly the same.

So do I, Cee. I got the reflections thing from some of my favorite movie directors like John Ford and George Stevens. The old masters.

Garry has a thing about reflections on water. And the colors of reflected water. And he has a great eye 🙂

Beautiful photos of a beautiful area. We don’t have lakes anymore, mud flats out here.

I was glad to see the Blackstone had water in it! Many of our tributaries and lakes are dry. It has been a nearly rain-less summer and are beginning to feel it. We aren’t out of the woods, so to speak, yet.

We are blessed to have all of this within 20 minutes of our house. Think I’m sounding a little like Judy Garland at the end of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS.

Great photos. You still seem to have some water, unlike the west coast. 😀

We better GET some rain soon or we will BE just like the west coast. A lot of our ponds and lakes are mud flats. The river still flows, but it’s the first body of water I’ve seen recently that actually HAS water in it.

We are lucky and aware of the water situation. Thank you.

….and to make it perfect you need to have a place out here in Arizona for the winter.., which is what we look forward to. 7 month of Fall and Spring, or “Sprall” as I call it.

A magnificent shot. It makes me miss having property on water.

We have a tiny seasonal pond in our woods, though I think it’s dry now. The weather has been lovely — almost rain free — through the entire summer. We need rain badly. The Blackstone still flows … but most of its tributaries are dry. The lakes and ponds are showing bottom mud.
