It’s a strange fall this year. It was really lovely down by the dam, but by the reservoir a few blocks away, the trees are mostly still green. Kind of “medium” at another part of the river. This autumn has been very late and very patchy. Too much warm, rainy weather, I suppose. But it’s strange the way some areas are really bright and gorgeous … and a mile away, green.

Right near our home, we are mostly green and yellow. A half hour south of us, brilliant colours. It is usually the opposite.

Very strange autumn. While areas along waterways are usually brighter, the rest of the area is usually autumnal … rather than green. Very strange.

Autumn in New England is prettier than anybody else’s. It’s our “thing,” the one thing no one can beat. That’s why this year was so disappointing. This is very pretty, but on a normal year, this is half of autumn. It gets MUCH better than this.

And conveniently, right in the middle of town with plenty of parking. We weren’t the only people there shooting. Lots of phone shooters taking selfies of themselves with trees or their dogs. We were the ONLY people with actual cameras.

We went to three different locations … and then, we gave up and went into town for groceries … and there was the dam. The Mumford never fails us.
