Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: White
We know the big storm is on the way because the news has been full of it. What is funny is that they are talking about huge amounts of snow. Like … nine inches to a foot. We consider that a dusting. It doesn’t get serious until it tops 14 inches and really serious starts at about 18 inches.
I suppose that’s the difference between living in snow country and living in “sometimes it snows” country. I grew up in “sometimes it snows” (New York city and Long Island) as opposed to upstate New York which is like here. Although to be fair, we live in one of the heaviest snow areas in the country. Something about the way the snow goes up over the Worcester hills and when the ground drops away, the clouds just dump a ton of snow. Usually right on top of us. Unless the storm is coming in from the ocean, in which case Boston gets clobbered and we snicker … until the next storm.

Hope you guys don’t get too much of that white stuff this year 😀

We too. Garry hates having to drive in it and I’m afraid of falling … and the plow guy is up to $50 to plow up to a foot of snow and $100 if it’s more than 12 inches — and that can add up to an awful lot of money on a bad winter.

I know snow makes your lives very difficult in winter but as a person who lives where it rarely snows and then not that much, I have to say it is pretty. Lovely photos.

It IS beautiful. It is also cold and icy and hard to move around.

I probably wouldn’t like it as much if I had to live with it.

A little snow is fun. A LOT of snow is less fun. Huge amounts of it? No one likes it. It also gets expensive because you have to hire a plow to clear the driveway — and that is $50 if it’s less than a foot and $100 if it’s more than one foot. If it snows a few times in a week, you can end up destitute,

Oh Marilyn, it’s much too early to bring out the Winter Blues.

Have you seen that storm heading for us? I think it’s more likely to get you than us, but I’m just guessing. I am so unready to deal with real winter!

I’m never ready for winter and as for a winter storm – I’m outa here….if only…

I know exactly what you mean. But at least we fixed a couple of serious problems, so that will make winter a little easier.
