NEW ORCHIDS ON A NEW BRANCH
I knew they were going to bloom soon, but two big ones opened this morning and two more are waiting. Next week, I hope. With a little luck, maybe even sooner.
I took pictures. Today was the day I discovered I couldn’t take a picture of all my orchids with my macro lens. So tomorrow, I’ll have to change lenses and see what I can do.

They seem to have a hint of pinked green…..very pretty….

That’s the way they look when they are newborns. They get less green and more white, with thin stripes of pink as the age. They are really pretty when they are just out of the bud.

They are at the best when they have just popped open. I love the way they look. I’ll take more pictures a bit later. Owen finally remembered to take the tripod off the deck. It was hard to get a picture with that big tripod blocking so much of the windows. Owen called it “taking pictures of botanicals and mechanicals.” Good rhyming there.

And so fresh and new 🙂 It turns out that very little water (four ice cubed every week) and fertilizer every second or third week and they are so happy!

The orchids are REALLY doing well this year. Impressively well. And it’s NOT RAINING OR SNOWING today! Isn’t that wonderful?
