THE QUICK CHAT

If you looked outside about an hour ago, it was as dark as the middle of night. Garry said: “It’s gotten awfully dark awfully fast.”

“It’s going to rain,” I said.

“I was raining when I came in before,” he responded.

“Yes,” I said, “But now it’s REALLY going to rain.”

It looked like midnight – and it was just 6pm!

It rained. Very hard. Then it stopped and the sun came out. Now it looks like late afternoon on a normal day and all the birds are back eating and chirping. All the pretty little birds. The Goldfinches and the House Finches. The Chickadees and the Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Doves and an occasional flicker or Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

Between the rainstorms, they drop by for a meal. They aren’t bothered by the rain. I guess for them, it’s just the way the world is. The need their own houses. With servants to clean up the mess.

I wonder if it will rain tomorrow?

  3. What the English Professor At Large said. Utah is drier than usual, and my skin is NOT appreciating the lack of moisture. I might have to buy stock in Vaseline Care lotion!!

    • It’s raining again. We had a sunny morning, then it got dark and I heard the thunder. Flash flood warning are up and now, we ARE beginning to flood. Not right in this house, but many of our roads are flooded. If it keeps raining, the rivers are going to overflow their banks and the rivers run through the middle of every town in the valley. It has been a while since I’ve seen our town flooded, but back when we had rain, it flooded a couple of times. That’s why they’ve been building drains.

      Floods and drought. Great combination.

    • If only I could! It’s so painful that all the rain seems to fall in one place. Considering how much rain some areas have had, it could wet down the entire country!

  5. I wish it would rain here, Marilyn. We haven’t had rain for weeks and we won’t get any for a lot more weeks.
