Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Rocks
It’s my time of year to focus almost exclusively on color, so I hat to turn my brain in another direction to meet this challenge. Probably just as well. There’s such a thing as “too focused” … and I have definitely been suffering from a touch of hyper-focus.
These shots of the dam were taken two years ago at a dam where the pond exits into a river tributary … the name of which I don’t know. I can’t get to this location anymore. Some company has taken over the building and blocked the way to the dam, which is behind the building.
Fortunately, I took a lot of pictures while I could. They have been waiting for me to “do something” with them.

I bet there is a lot of colour in some of those polished stones, Marilyn. I think I see a cat’s eye and there is some quartz. Could you post a colour version too, please?

I did send a link. I still haven’t figured out how to paste something into a reply. Every once in a while it works, then, it doesn’t. But the link works!
I guess it did work. Apparently you can’t see the picture until after it posts.

Your polished rock looks so smooth. I would love to roll them around in my hands. Great photos.

A nice job of ‘freeze-action’ — I actually thought one of the shots showed frozen water flowing over the top1

Thank you ! I think it worked that well because it was so bright. The camera is reasonably fast, but I’ve got lots faster lenses … but that’s the longest zoom I’ve got. It lets me get close without getting close. Usually, the water is in shade. That day, it was very bright. I’ve never gotten so much detail in the water before. One of those times when the pictures came out different and a lot better than I expected. A bit of luck, good light, and the right camera 🙂
