THE SQUARE COMMUNITY
It’s kind of musical around here. I have my guitar, ukulele, two penny whistles, a small xylophone and a tiny electric piano. I had a very different idea of what to do with today’s pictures, but the lights were out for hours.
If the wind had calmed down, we’d have had a little more time to write. Sadly, we also got a very small amount of rain … just another dribble.

Your son did a super job on that guitar.

It was actually a good friend of Owen’s. He does amazing work and he plays VERY well, too.

The carving is gorgeous and it can make some really interesting music. It’s just that I don’t know how to use it and the book I bought with it uses some kind of notation that isn’t standard music notation, so I’m at loss to know what to do with it. But the carving is something else.

It’s a magnificent looking instrument.

It really is. I’m just totally lost trying to make music on it. I think it’s more an accompanying instrument than a solo player. I think I need a few lessons maybe. But that Phoenix is amazing.

It certainly is. I took piano lessons but never was very good. I have my great grandma’s pump organ. I wish I could play it.Good exercise though.

The pump organ is NOT an easy instrument. I played piano pretty well and for many years and I had a lot of trouble with the organ. I was not used to working on multiple keyboards OR using my feet as well as both hands. And the non-electric ones are even more difficult. I had one here for some years and never quite got the hang of it.
