BIRD WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – BIRDS BEGINNING WITH “E”
Sadly, I have just three birds whose names have at least one word beginning with an “E.” There are others, such as an egret and Eider duck, but I don’t have either of these in my library. This leaves us with the European Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, and an eagle — the Osprey (fishing eagle – photo by Garry.) I first thought it was an American Eagle because they like fishing too, but the black marker by the eagle’s head informed me he’s an Osprey. I believe he is the smallest of our eagles, but even a small eagle is a big bird. He is also not a vanishing species. American Eagles have made a pretty good comeback from near extinction. There are many of them in our valley and while I’ve seen them often, I have no pictures to show. They nest near the rivers — the big rivers that have fish of sufficient size to fill up the belly of a big eagle.

Nice photos Marilyn. I love how the Bluebird is looking right at you. 🙂

They watch me. The little birds are less afraid than the larger ones. Especially the Chickadees. They are downright friendly.

Our chickadees are a bit skittish even though they know we feed them. The Carolina wrens are more friendly when we put out the live mealworms. 😂😉
