SHARING MY WORLD. GOOD GRIEF IT’S ALMOST NOVEMBER!

Holy Mackerel! Wait a minute. Is a mackerel holy? Why? What did I miss? I just know last I looked, it was warm and a bit sticky and we were hoping the Sox would make it into the playoffs against all odds. They made it, but it’s getting towards the end of October and while I love the leaves — the foliage is really amazing right now — I’m not at all ready for winter. I know winter is coming because (ta da) — I finally had to close the screen door.

How did it get to the third week in October? My soul is screaming “BUT IT’S JUST AUGUST!” Nonetheless, however fast it is running, it’s running. I agree. The months are acting like something scary is chasing them. Maybe it’s the (ugh) winter.

On to The Questions!

Are you easily frightened or startled?

Only by spiders, usually big ones. Or millipedes. An unexpected loud noise will startle me — will startle anyone — but that’s normal and is nothing like fear.

If you were a ghost, what location do you think you would haunt? Is it the same or different from the location you’d want to haunt?

Haunting sounds like a lonesome way to not live. Whether or not ghosts might or might not exist, I don’t want to haunt anyone or anything. I’m ready for “rest in peace.”

What do you see in your mind’s eye when you close your eyes?

Bubbles. Blobs of light color on a darker field of color. I don’t see pictures unless I’m dreaming. Just color, floating around. It’s not very interesting. Now dreaming, that’s something entirely different.

If a semi (big rig in American) (probably a lorry or trolley over the pond or elsewhere) were about to smash into a crowd, if you could divert the vehicle’s course to hit only one person, would you?  How would you decide who would become the victim?

I’m with Fandango on this one. Scream “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!” and then, run for MY life and yours. Faster is better.

GRATITUDE SECTION

Please feel free to share what makes you feel warm and cozy when the wind blows cold? Alternatively (for those on the other side of the world), what makes you feel relaxed and comfortable when the thermometer starts rising?

Sweaters and warm bed covers. We keep the house cooler than we would like, but that’s because the price of oil has gone up a lot this year. Good thing we got a new boiler. It’s using less than half the oil the previous (really old) one used.

We have already put the comforter on the bed. And with a nod to the weather, the Duke has left the cooler floor and rejoined us on the bed. Which means HE has all the covers.

  1. Actually time is running ! And it’s still raining and flooding in India. Kerala is in bad condition. Totally chaos, you reminded me of warm clothes, bed warmers n all. There is no sunlight to keep the summer stuff to let dry before keeping it in the boxes and taking sweaters out. Kind of confusion in cupboards as to what to remove and what to arrange on the shelves.

    • Crossover weather. It’s quite chilly here now, but it’s supposed to warm up again soon. I never know what to put on the bed. Down into near freezing last night and cold today, but not necessarily tomorrow — and it rains every other day, often for several days at a time. At least hurricane season is over. That’s something.

  2. Thanks Marilyn for Sharing Your World. Thanks Garry for sharing such beautiful photography! I agree about the canine’s idea that they should have ALL the covers. If the human is cold, eh. Not of consequence. One of Ziggy’s tricks is to burrow under the blanket/coverlet and lie in the precise center of the sleeping space. One gets grouchy looks and long sighs if one tries to shift him too. I loved the answer to the ‘big vehicle heading one’s way with death and destruction on its mind!’ You and Fandango come up with some real good ones! 😄 Your ‘scary’ list and mine are roughly the same. Only mine has clowns and wasps on it too. 😲 Restful ‘sleep’ would be a proper thing to expect when we totter off this mortal coil, and I agree that haunting must be a very lonely thing to have to do! Have a great week, and keep warm! 🙂

    • We are constantly amazed at how much room one 42 lb. dog can take up — and how MUCH blanket he needs. I finally ordered a “SUPER KING” comforter that’s 120″ wide and they don’t make them any bigger. Even getting a cover for it was difficult — I could only find ONE place that made them at all and they weren’t cheap. However, it will prevent Garry and I from having fisticuffs while we fight for however much of the blanket the Duke lets us have.

It’s 50 degrees out. Chilly. I bowed to reality and put on a light sweater which hopefully with a heavier denim jacket, will keep me warmer. I love fall jackets, but the weather shifts so fast I rarely get to wear them. I want this weather to last longer!

I’m not afraid of clowns but I don’t find them funny, not even when I was a kid. I always thought they were like commercials on TV. You had to wait for them to finish before you got to the GOOD stuff.

We’re off to photograph foliage. It’s very bright now. This might be the last shooting day, but you never know. It’s so unpredictable.
