FOTD – December 20 – Orchids on the way
The shoots are up and the buds are on the shoots! I think maybe at least three of them may bloom at the same time.

Thanks Cee. I’ve been watching them because there were shoots, but whether or not they would set buds, I wasn’t sure. But all of them have at least little baby buds and I’m optimistic.

White orchids really are special…

Thank you. I think most orchids are naturally white, though I’ve seen a few that are striped or dotted. But I think most are white or began as white and often, after a few bloomings, will revert to white. I just love them no matter what color they are 😀

Thank you. Once they bloom, they are surprisingly sturdy. They are at their most fragile when they are setting buds on a new branch. That’s when you have to be really careful because those branches snap very easily. BUT when they are flowering, the flowers last for months and require almost no care at all. Mostly, you need the right light — and patience. And DON’T water that orchid!
