FOTD – April 8 – Cactus out of season & more
My 🌵 cactus is very out of season, but it’s blooming like Thanksgiving is tomorrow. I can’t blame it on the weather. I actually have no idea why, but they are beautiful. They are also hard to see because the flowers hide under orchid leaves and their own foliage. I don’t like moving them when they are in bloom. It makes the flowers fall off, but it does make it hard to get a good image.
I’m also having a very hard time with the very pale pink cactus. For some reason, no matter how sharp it looks on the camera, it seems to have no edges.

Thank you. I think the really pale cactus flowers are hard to photograph if the light isn’t perfect and I’m not sure what perfect IS. Too much light and they burn our or disappear. Too dark and they fade into the background — and the camera has a hard time even finding them. But the orchids stand out and are never a problem.

Thanks! I’m really surprised at how the Christmas cactus are in full bloom. They really shouldn’t be blooming in April, but no one told them and lacking a calendar …

Thank you, The orchids are “on time” but the cactus really should be sleeping. Apparently no one explained it to them, so they are blooming more now than they were in the middle of winter.

Perhaps it’s the temperature that’s is causing this
