All about buildings: Commercial buildings or store fronts
I wonder if the malls will ever open again? I wonder how many shops will still be “alive” when our siege finally ends? IF our siege ever ends. Sometimes I look ahead and I don’t see an end, just endlessly more of the same. I was never a big “mall person.” Other than for occasional holiday shopping, I tended to avoid malls and more recently than when I was younger because it was so much walking — and I had a lot of trouble covering the distance. I was grateful for the benches and chairs along the walking routes.

Thank you so much. I needed lift right now. This has been a dismal year. I’m just hoping that we pull out of this and next year is at least a LITTLE bit better!! I’m glad you made it to Idaho and safely returned. I was worried about you.

Love small town East Coast. Can walk around there all day. Lots of nice little restaurants and coffee places too.

Used to be. Don’t know what’s left now. So many places have closed. I have to assume that new ones will open. It’s such a great tourist location.

Dang! I forgot about that Covid. I was thinking of yesteryear.

The little shops have much more character.

More character and tons of stuff you don’t need and probably can’t afford! I used to find myself buying carved bone items and ships in bottles.

I don’t mind either, there is not as much that I want at the shops any more. I feel a post coming on about that.

One of the things about malls is that there was never anything in them I wanted. Sometimes there were items I needed. Sneakers. Bed linens. Books (always a big item!). But after a while, all the store carried stuff that looked the same. All the individuality was gone.

Since being without a car I no longer go to my large store with the mall in another village, but now stick to the stores in town to be reached by my scooter and I am doing quite well. I have realised I do not need the mall, and never actually visited the stores there. It just added to the experience of going places and doing things. My new carless life is out in the open air (as long as it Everything is on a smaller scale, but I do not mind.

There were three reasons I went to a mall: it was Christmas and I had a handicapped pass, or our watches needed batteries and there’s a battery kiosk in Auburn, and I had a passionate yearning for hot pretzels from Annie’s. The next mall I go do better have a battery kiosk!
