FOTD – February 1 – Waterlily
Near the shore of the pond in Whitinsville, close to where the swans nest, there are beautiful wild waterlilies. I’m told that waterlilies are one of the favorite snack food of moose, that they will swim across an entire lake to get to the waterlilies. We don’t have any moose around here, but if we did, I’m sure they’d be very tempted by the waterlilies.
And these flowers which grow along the edge of the rivers and lakes. Not lilies, but beautiful nonetheless.

Thanks Cee. There are so many amazing flowers along the edges of river banks. I don’t know what they are called — I’m not good with identifying plants — but they come in every color and the bees really love them.

Sometimes, the flowers along the rivers are amazing. They aren’t flowers we can cultivate — unless you have your own river or stream, so I try to get pictures of them when I can. My favorites are those purple stalks and the big fluffy pink ones. I don’t know what they are called — I’m not good at identifying plants. I do recognize actual waterlilies, but the best blooming flowers are the ones right along the shoreline. The bees love them, too.
