The roses bloomed bigtime this year despite the rain. But if we’d had just a little bit of sunshine in June or July, it would have been much better. These are the roses from last summer. By the time the rain stopped long enough for me to get outside with a camera, the roses were all waterlogged and wilted. Maybe next year.

They are really pretty, but also have some seriously lethal thorns. Good to look at, but don’t touch!

I can live with that!

I can live with it until I have to figure out how to trim them back and not get mauled. Ah, but roses are worth it, even though blood will flow.

apart from strong gardening gloves, I have invested in a pair of those arm protectors and these help a lot! (from Amazon.com)

These are great visually, but boy do they tear the skin off you if you let them. My son has heavy leather glove that go up to his elbows. They are called (ta da!), ROSE GLOVES.

Thanks. The changing weather is changing the gardens and how things grow. I’m not sure what it will be like next year, but I think it will be different.
