Those were the years when I could grow fuchsia because we had dappled shade. Sadly, that tree is dying and with it goes the dappled shade the fuchsias loved so well. I may try begonias this year. They like full sun better than fuchsia 🙂
You need dappled sunlight — NOT full sun — and you have to water them a LOT. Completely opposite to my orchids and cactus, once the weather gets warm and when the sun is shining, I had to water them in the morning and often again in the afternoon. It might be too hot for them there. Even here, when it gets very hot, they begin to wither.

You can’t tell from those pods what color the fuchsia will be. It was actually pink and cream.
