FOTD – October 26 – Golden Woods
When I look “out back” behind the house, it seems so odd that the ash tree is gone. It has been a big part of our visuals since we moved here. The good news is that it has allowed a bit more light into an area that was dark. This accounts for the red leaves on the oaks trees as it’s the first year in more than 20 those oaks have seen sunlight.

A good positive, for sure.

I would have kept the tree, but it wasn’t a tree anymore. It had a handful of leaves way at the top. The rest of it was dead and branches were falling. It was SO close to the house, it was a real danger. It had to come down. I loved that tree, but it went from a young tree when we moved here to an old one. It does give us more light at the back of the house which is a good thing, but I would have preferred to keep the tree. Oh well.

Isn’t it an odd feeling? I know that trees don’t all live for hundreds of years … but how strange to outlive the trees we planted.

I’d like to think the tree had a good life. Think of all the stories it had.
