FOTD – May 20 – Azaleas by the Mumford Dam
Of our two azaleas, one died during the long drought and the other is alive. We’ve had a couple of late freezes and it budded, but failed to bloom. But, azaleas are blooming by the Mumford Dam in the middle of town. These are very pretty — pink and white. I’ve never seen two-color azaleas before. Lovely. I wish I had a few of those pretty flowering shrubs at home.

Future Shock is here? Too much change in too short a period of time.
And we’re still praying for rain to stop the forest fires. None is forecast.
We always feel we’re safe and far away from everything in Calgary.
Looks like that might be wrong.

My neighbour has this azalea, and I would love to sneak a cutting! Such a gorgeous colour…

We’ve gone straight from Winter to Summer. No Spring. No rain.
It was 83 F in Calgary today. We aren’t ready for this.

We did the same thing — and then it went right back to winter and we had to cover our outdoor flowers to keep them from freezing. It’s still pretty chilly. Of course in between, we installed air conditioners which we don’t NEED for now. But it will turn back into summer. It has been weird — hot, cold, hot, cold. I never know what I should be wearing.
