Lo and behold, the day turned out to be sunny, though not particularly warm. And tonight, they’ve issued warnings that it’s going to drop below freezing so bring those delicate plants inside — if you can. I’m glad we didn’t buy those pansies last weekend. They’d die in this short freeze.
I took most of these using the new camera and they came out better than I expected. Guess which ones?

I love how you can almost get inside the orchid.

Isn’t that amazing? THAT is what macro lenses are about. I was truly surprised that the button-press macro feature actually works. Usually, they don’t work.

Beautiful photos, then again you know how to make a camera perform at its best.

Honestly, I’m still working out what it can do well and what it almost does. It is better than I expected. It’s a nice, solid camera. It doesn’t feel cheap. I still don’t like the lack of compression, but it works despite my lack of faith in how it does its job. It is pretty heavy, so it didn’t satisfy the “light, small, easy to carry” stuff, but it does manage to be able to do a lot of things surprisingly well. Overall, a pretty good purchase. I am not disappointed. Honestly, I was very dubious about its performance potential so it has all been pleasant surprises.
