This is not a great month for photography. Although I love the absence of snow, the bare trees, hibernating flowers and gardens aren’t inspiring.
Of course it’s possible to find pictures any time of years, but some periods are much more photogenic than others. Meanwhile, I’m motivated to look through the folders of pictures from other months. See what pops out.
October was the bonanza month for photographs.
The top three pictures are Vermont, near Peachum. Glorious days. The scarlet and orange leaves had passed, but the gold remained. The trees were breathtaking.
These final two shots are in and around Jackman, Maine. You can see the difference in the advance of the seasons between Maine — slightly higher both in altitude and latitude than Vermont.

The photos look like paintings. Beautiful snaps. Marilyn, you have an eye for capturing nature in all its splendor. Thanks for sharing the snaps.

Thank you. In both places, it was an extraordinary vista. And I had the right cameras and good lenses to work with.

Besides being beautiful, that first shot looks relaxing and comfortable to me, a pastoral scene that is all about safety and home.

It was taken from the porch of the house in which we were staying. I very relaxed and comfortable place, so you are remarkably on target.

Winter and fall are probably the best months in terms of photo opportunities in New England. You’re right that without snow the trees and the ground feel a little desolate. Last fall was spectacular, and I’m glad you can feed on these pictures and their memories as you wait for more inspiring scenery.

Thanks for passing on the glow. I definitely needed it today.

Me too. Even when the sun is out, this time of year seems kind of grey. It’s bright and sunny today, but somehow feel very monochrome.

I would like autumn to last all year. That would be perfect.

Marilyn, the last one is my favorite, nicely framed – beautiful. This shouts – frame me for your wall!

I no longer have a single inch of wall space left! About 7 or 8 years ago, I went into a frenzy of framing and hanging pictures. They look great, but there isn’t anywhere to hang anything. I think that’s why I started blogging, so I’d have somewhere to show off pictures 🙂

Good idea! I also don’t have wall space as I’m in an RV full time. I really miss seeing them.

Physical space eventually is used up. There’s no way around it, unless for those few who live in mansions. The rest of us, though, have to find new ways. For me, it has been blogging. It beats out books of pictures no one ever looks at.

You are right. I started mine just as a record of my travels for my family. Now I’ve gained many web friends who also enjoy my travels. Keep up the good work! Barb

It was unreal being there. Even when we were getting a big crazy with all the slow drivers, that the scenery was surreal. In a good way.
